Life insurance protects your loved ones. It pays a benefit so they can afford to pay for funeral expenses, pay off debt and maintain their current standard of living. It is one of the best ways to show you care. During this year’s enrollment, you now have the opportunity to increase your life insurance protection with a voluntary plan offered by your employer.

BASIC, OPTIONAL AND VOLUNTARY TERM LIFE INSURANCE

• Voluntary life insurance is term life coverage you can purchase in addition to the basic life plan provided by your employer.
• Voluntary Life – Retirees are eligible to continue coverage into retirement. Retiree must be eligible as a retiree under his/her specific retirement system. Retirees are not eligible for total or permanent disability waiver of premium. Maximum benefit available for Retirees is $50,000 with Spouse limited to 50% of Retiree benefit to a maximum of $25,000.
• Voluntary Life – All coverage terminates at age 70

• Basic and Optional Life coverage reduces to 75% at age 65 then to 50% at age 70 of the amounts shown in the Schedule of Benefits
• Basic and Optional Life Benefits continue into retirement, subject to terms of the policy
