Why Disability Insurance?

Have you ever wondered what would happen to your income if you had an accidental injury, sickness, or pregnancy? That is why you need disability coverage. It replaces a portion of income for the period of time you are unable to work due to those reasons.

• The City of Bedford provides both short-term disability and long-term disability to you at no cost.  This is 100% Employer paid.
• Short Term Disability covers 60% of your base income for up to 13 weeks following an illness or injury that keeps u out of work.
• Long Term Disability covers 60% of your base income after a 90 day waiting period for an illness or injury lasting a lengthy period of time.
