Medical Insurance

We spent considerable time this year reviewing our employee benefits plans and held an RFP for our medical and pharmacy insurance. Our primary goal in exploring new vendors was to ensure we are getting the best possible insurance coverage for the lowest price. Based on our research, we’re making the following changes for the 2024 plan year … we’re not only improving our insurance benefits and offering more employee service options, we expect more than half of our team members will save money on health insurance premiums!

Key Plan Enhancement for 2024:

Changed carriers for the health plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBSMT) to Allegiance (Medical) and RxBenefits/Optum (Pharmacy)
Condensed our health plan offerings from three options to two options
- Health Savings Plan (HDHP)- Remains
- Merging the Value and Premium Plan- into a single PPO Health Plan
Offered reduced deductibles and lower out of pockets maximums when you see a St. Peter’s Health Provider or use the St. Peter’s Pharmacy
Implemented income-based premiums: higher earners will pay more for their monthly premiums, which means around 60% of our employees will see a decrease in their monthly premiums for 2024!
Increased chiropractic visits from 12 visits/year to 24 visits/year
Added a benefit for acupuncture of 24 visits/year
Increased the number of specialty providers in tier 1 (e.g., Pediatricians, OBGYN’s, Dermatologists)
Added an employee paid permanent, portable life insurance option through Texas Life
Added Telemedicine via MDLive and three Telebehavioral health providers (Brightside, Brightline and Talkspace) for better access and convenience
